20 July 2017

`

Ever wondered which European destinations are the most popular to visit? I start to wonder : why wasn't this city on my list earlier ? It was such a big mistakes. Spain is full of surprises, and i had wonderful memories in Madrid. Basically, It is a city full of life, colors, wonderful architecture and people. In the article, I'm going to share about some highlights of the place I've been in Madrid during my trip.

First stop once arrival- Alcalá de Henares, the world heritage city in Central Spain, Northeast of Madrid. We walked around in the old city of Madrid after checked in to our hotel, Parador de Alcala de Henares. Everything is just walking distance from our hotel.

#Take a stroll at Alcalá de Henares

Here is a views from Torre de Santa Maria.
One of the best spot to see the whole views of this beautiful city.
Everywhere is filled with charming and quaint shops with quirky items.
Well, it is just a lovely place to walk around.
The weather is lovely! No filter needed
Explore the small alleys and every single streets by foot is the best.

Universidad de Alcala

It is one of the MUST VISIT place in Alcalá de Henares, since 1499. Don't miss this gem during your visit. This is one of the first universities in Spain, built in the spirit of renaissance in the golden period of the Spanish Empire. Very historical places and the architecture of the University is truly amazing.
I would recommend staying in Alcalá de Henares for 1-2days, or at least having a day trip to see the wonders of the centre of this town. Definitely worth a visit.

Next, move on to the city centre of Madrid.
It is around 45 minutes drive from Alcalá de Henares to the city, not too far away from town.

#Lunch at La Pecera de Círculo de Bellas Artes

No visit to Madrid is complete without seeing the views from the rooftop terrace or having lunch in the famous restaurant La Pecera. One of the city's liveliest avenues. This is my favourite place in Madrid, definitely a MUST VISIT place in Madrid, where time seems to stand still just enjoy the view of the hustle city from the rooftop. You can have breakfast, tea or even a light meal at lunch time on the rooftop cafe.
The perfect place for a gathering
Tapas party every meal before our mains were served.

Address : Calle de Alcalá, 42, 28028 Madrid, Spain

#Tapas Bar Hopping on Calle Victoria

Madrid is full of delicious tapas, midnight dinners, and cafes filled until dawn. Madrid comes alive at night. It’s a vibrant, and moving city. So, we went out for tapas bar hopping nearby our hotel on the first night in Madrid, and this is my favourite bar among all. La Casa Del Abuelo. This restaurant was a complete contrast to the very traditional shrimp place.
A very traditional tapas bar that is more than 100 years already.
Love the shrimps so so much, served in garlic deliciousness.
This is basically the best tapas i ever had! MUST TRY

Open from 12pm-12am
Address : Calle de la Victoria, 12, 28012 Madrid, Spain

#Visit the landmark of Madrid

Catedral de la Almudena
My first view of this stunning Cathedral was from a hidden path beside this building, as you can see in the image below, and it definitely showed the city’s iconic place of worship in the best light.

You can also visit Royal Palace as it is just right next to the Cathedral. Though it’s the official residence of the royal family, but they don’t actually live there anymore, and the palace is only used for official state functions.

#Visit the Real Madrid Football Stadium

Real Madrid is one of the most famous soccer teams in the world. I’m sure you all heard about this, especially the football fans! Although i’m not a big fans of football, but still pretty excited to be here!

#Dinner at Puerta57 Restaurant

We had our dinner inside the football stadium, basically is right beside the football stadium where you can look at the football field while dining in. The environment is amazingly good, a very unforgettable experience. Don’t miss it if you are nearby!
The food is pretty good too! Especially the Pescaíto Frito (Fried Fish), goes well with the fresh lemon
The views from the restaurant. Definitely one of the bucket list to do if you are a football fans!

Address : Estadio Santiago Bernabéu, Calle de Padre Damián, s/n Puerta 57, 28036 Madrid, Spain

Overall, Madrid was a pretty awesome city — I enjoyed the tapas, friendly locals, history, art, architecture, and the nightlife. Trust me, You’ll find plenty to do no matter what time of day it is.There is so much about Madrid I’ve yet to see and experience. Too bad, I was only able to catch a glimpse of it.  Well, i will definitely come back to Madrid again in the future.

NEXT, RONDA ..........
