MUST HAVE FOOD in SEOUL

23 January 2018

Yes, i’m back to Seoul again. Because there is so much more to see and do in this kimchi land! This time, i’m travelling with my Indonesia squads - Bobo and Nana. I didn’t really explore much of the food during my last few visits. I really thought it was just Korean BBQ, fried chicken and Dak galbi in Korea but i was wrong. Apparently, There are still a lot of nice food and i’m glad i manage to try some of the really nice one! woohoo. Scroll down to see more...
Us, visiting Gyebokgung palace.
These few is probably the best meal i had in Seoul, so check it out.....

#1 Tosokchon 土俗村蔘雞湯

Tosokchon is best known for having former Korean President Roh's favorite ginseng chicken soup. It is a MUST! This restaurant is one of the most famous one in Seoul. It is situated approximately 15-20 minutes away from the Gyeongbokgung station. You can just walk there. Exit 2, walk 120m towards Hyoja-dong direction, then you will see GS25 (a convenient store) on your left. Make a left turn and walk straight till you see Tosokchon.

Myeongdong Kyoja established in 1966, is popular among the locals and tourist. It is located at the Myeongdong shopping district, so you can go before or after your shopping. Try to go earlier cause it is quite crowded.
The Dumplings (Mandu) 만두 8,000 KRW is one of their popular dish. Almost every table ordered. Also, remember to order the signature Choppped Noodles (Kalguksu) 칼국수 8,000 KRW! The Kimchi given are refillable. Trust me, their kimchi is good too! This place is highly recommended!

#3 ProSoy Crab 프로간장게장

Ganjang Gejang 게장 is a very special and unique Korean food that you must try if you visit Seoul. Ganjang Gejang is a soy sauce marinated crab dish. Yes, it is RAW. I’m a bit afraid to eat raw dish especially crab. But..The beautiful flavors of the raw crab with the soy sauce along with roe and rice pair so unexpectedly deliciously. Now this became one of my favorite Korean cuisine.
We also ordered the live octopus, each piece is dipped in sesame oil prior to eat.

The soy marinated crabs costs 55,000 won and a large costs 80,000 won.
We ordered the small one for 3 of us and it is more than enough.

#4 Jungang Haejang, Gangnam Gu ( Hangover Soup )

The term "haejang" means, more or less, "hangover remedy."  In Korean drinking culture, all hangover remedies involve broth in some form or another. Bobo brought us to this place after me and nana having hangover the next day after drinking. This restaurant is around 15 minutes away ( walking distance) from the place we stayed.
It is so good. Each of us ordered one bowl and it comes with rice.
Spiced hanwoo beef haejangguk (ox bone broth "hangover soup") 8,000 won

WHERE TO STAY?

I really enjoy staying with HomeAway so I’m back with HomeAway this round for my Seoul trip. You can check my previous review for Singapore and also Taiwan. It is really hard for me to decide which house to rent because most of the Seoul property are so nice! I will definitely go back again and try out others property next round.

For those who are not sure what HomeAway is...Basically HomeAway is a platform where allows you to choose from many vacation houses that accommodate your entire family or travel squad during travel. Apparently, compare to others hotel booking, HomeAway is more economical and more spacious. As we all knows, Hotel can be really expensive.
Since, i’m travelling with a group of friends so I decided it would be better to rent a bigger space where can all stay together in one roof. More photo opportunities, more fun with your travel partner. Hence, the perfect place is HomeAway!

It is located at the intersection of ‘Bongeunsa Station’ in Gangnam area. It’s close to three subway stations which are line no.9 ‘Bongeunsa Station’ - right in front of exit no.3 / line no.2 ‘Samsung Station’ - 5 min / line no.7 ‘Cheongdam Station’ - 5 min. There is also a shopping mall right in front of the property.
I love every single corner of the house. So modern and unique

The apartment provides Hair Dryer, Washing Machine, Towels, Umbrella, Hair Shampoo, Hair Conditioner, Body Cleanser, Soap, Disposal Tooth Brush & Tooth Paste Electric rice cooker, Microwave, Electric kettle , Toaster, and all Cooking utensils.

Not to mention, there is also some cute mini game to play!

My travel squads - Bobo & Nana
